Welcome to the first of seven short poems made for the sensibly nonsensical, Ridiculous!
You may not realize it, but we all enjoy a great deal of ridiculous things in the world.
Some are strange, some are old, some come in Vs, and others are continuous. Do you want to try being spontaneous? Or remain oblivious? The choice is yours, dear reader, who is anonymous.

There is a reason Shadowborn witches are so rare, and those alive remain hidden. After opening a forbidden book, Rya Groves awakens powers many in the witching world are frightened of. With the help of Lucas Bane, a warlock who coincidentally bumps into her the same week she starts to hear whispers from the dead, she starts to uncover more about her powers and who she really is.
That same week, a heartthrob, Alek Wood, starts attending her school, proving himself to despise Rya upon first sight, yet he can’t stay away from her. Rya can’t find it in herself to hate the guy despite his hot and cold attitude toward her. There is a strange pull, a current of electrical sparks between them that grow stronger with every touch.
Fighting his natural instincts and his ‘beast’ for dominance, Alek is terrified of hurting the one he’s started to care for the most. Someone he didn't want to care for, or ever care for anybody, because of his nature and the imminent doom that would follow his affections.
Aware that there is more to Alek Wood than his chiseled good looks and 'charming' personality, Rya is adamant about figuring out his secret. But these problems are the least of her worries. On the first day of Alek’s arrival, two bodies were found on the outskirts of the castle grounds. They are not the last, and as more bodies turn up, more about the killer unfolds.
Follow Rya's whirlwind journey of rediscovery, romance, and mystery in the 'supe' world.
Excerpt:
Rya wanted answers… answers to questions that were blown away by the sudden touch of Alek’s lips.
With such vehement heat, Alek crashed his lips against Rya’s, taking her breath away.
Alek’s hands gripped her waist tightly, and Rya responded with her fingers threading through the back of his silky, disheveled hair. He pressed himself into her more, and she sighed, allowing his tongue to delve in and take complete control of hers.
She’d kissed others before but not like this. It was like she’d never been kissed before!
Alek utterly dominated her, making her knees go weak, her hands clutching tightly at him as he held her upright. He did something with his tongue or lips that got her thighs tightening at the sudden rush of heat and need.
She moaned, her cheeks turning red in embarrassment.
Rya was lost in Alek so much that she didn’t pay attention to the pleasurable pressure caused by something digging into her hips and going up her sides.
Alek pulled away from the kiss, and she almost complained until she felt him sucking and kissing down her neck, sending flickers of flames to run down her spine, shooting straight for her core. Rya’s head leaned back as sensation after sensation ricocheted through her.
Gasping, Rya couldn’t believe what was happening, what THEY were doing. She’d even drawn one leg up and wrapped it around his waist, pulling him closer to her. This time, Alek met her lips chastely before a loud thud beside their heads made the pair startle and stop.
Rya's head whipped to the side, and she noticed it was Alek’s fist.
Heart beating ferociously, chest heaving, eyes wide with shock and desire, her lips swollen from kissing, Rya stared back at Alek. His eyes were flickering between green and gold, something she couldn’t quite understand but figured it had something to do with his control.
Control of what, though?

Asant finds himself tempted by desires to taste and have what others have, and chooses to rob a bank; however, at the last second he finds himself unable to go through with the robbery. Even so, the prospect of jail overwhelms his psyche. His spiritual mentor, and caretaker from the time of Asant’s teens, is direct, “You must face your actions...”
Asant makes his choice and decides to evade and escape his country, in one way spurred by a deep-seated fear, in another by the same courage inherent in every person. As for the fear in him, it had grown from knowing how his father was tortured and violated while himself in prison; while the courage was supported and ignited over the years by his mentor.
The mentor reiterates that it is Asant’s choice, and if it is to leave country, the mentor suggests doing a tremendous good by helping a people entrenched in war. Asant follows the mentor’s guidance and travels across borders in attempt to redeem himself. His strength grows through fortuitous encounters – a border-crossing courier who becomes a companion; a caravan leader who provides sustenance; a star-gazing clan chief; an individual who feels responsible for starting a war... Through it all he experiences how physical reality manifests from and intersects with spiritual reality, and along the way gains strength and trust to endure.
